she was known to give her customers a little surprise if they were to buy something from her. her regular customers or close friends would always get something extra along side with the surprise. however, sujin wasn’t sure if the other had noticed that she had given them something more than usual. she grins slightly, acting as if nothing was wrong.

to my well-beloved birth givers,

it is with a joyful sad heart that i must proffer my regrets and inform you that i'll be unable to attend the festivities of our annual family gatherings. unfortunate circumstances have arisen, namely that i can't seem to stand the sight of our distant relatives,, i have to stay back at university to complete my assignments.

raewon, your one and only daughter.

raewon managed to avoid gathering for years, however, from the times she bore a couple of conversations, she managed to catch a name of a rather intriguing story. a stepdaughter of raewon's distant relative, a supposed miracle that somehow managed to get along with the older woman. hwang sua. obviously, raewon believed the two of them did not get along well, which was the reason she wondered what kind of daughter sua was and how she was coping with being a new addition to the family.

two of them had never really had a chance to meet, not until both of them somehow ended at yunhwa. fate? coincidence? neither really bothered to think of it. instead, during the time raewon decorated the stage of sua's restaurant, they discovered their connection and built an interesting acquaintanceship ─ enough for raewon to drop by the restaurant for a dinner and invite sua to join her.

❝   how are you doing this fine evening, sua? waiting for me, i believe, to have dinner together. ❞ raewon asked as she walked into the restaurant, holding a bouquet of flowers that she believed would fit the restaurant's concept.

it wasn’t like kangdae was superstitious. no, he didn’t fear vampires or anything like that. it just happened he was raised by his VERY superstitious grandmother. which meant hearing things like don’t clip your toenails and throw them away in the dirt, or don’t sleep with a  fan on. or be careful of ghosts because they usually look like normal people.

okay maybe he was a little superstitious. 

so when he was taking a quiet walk around the plaza, he almost ( ALMOST HE DIDN’T) screamed when he noticed someone turning the corner. it was totally a ghost, couldn’t be a fellow citizen.

truth be told, jonghyuk has no idea where he’s going. he decided a late night walk would be nice, the weather on the cooler side with a light breeze. he keeps a headphone in while he walks, eyes focused on the music videos playing on his phone. he’s oblivious to the world around him, until he hears a sharp voice in the night that, honestly, scares the shit out of him.

his head immediately snaps to look up at the woman talking to him. she’s slim, with blonde hair, and very obviously does not like jonghyuk at that moment at all. “uh what?” he asks, almost annoyed before looking around. he realizes they’re on an empty street, jonghyuk walking behind her; he nods his head slowly, realizing just how terrifying that probably is for a woman. “ah, i see. um, i swear i’m not following you or anything.” he holds up his phone, a colorful girl group music video flashing on the screen, “i honestly had no idea you were there until you spoke to me, i’ve been busy watching videos.” 

❝ ⠀⠀⠀ raewon would agree with her, it was indeed a strange incident to see a new face in yunhwa, where most of the population was formed by the locals. then again, she was not exactly a new face, the stage design senior was just a person, who was good at postponing family get-togethers and avoid summer breaks. hence, she had not been around for more than three years and appeared like a new face to many.

“ strange but nice, isn't it? i bet it started to get boring to see very same faces every single day. ”  raewon said with a small smile on her face, her words reflecting something between sincerity and sarcasm. “ don't worry, i'm not some kind of serial killer hiding from the police. ”
