Sadly, there are many mangas where rape is shown as something romantic, but this is certainly NOT the case with Yuuutsu na asa. The author just includes it, does not endorse it. In fact it is very well shown in Yna how much rape and forceful behaviour can drive two people away from each other. The moment Akihito stops being selfish and starts showing genuine affection and care, Katsuragi and he start getting closer. Yuuutsu na asa is one of the most well written mangas.
Thatâs very true. Thankfully, Iâve only been told there are Boys Love manga that use rape as a crutch for the beginning a love relationship; I havenât actually read one that does this. In any case, I think itâs a horrible BL stereotype and that definitely would have been a reason for me to drop a manga altogether.
Still, I find it hard to believe that two people who have a case of sexual abuse as history between them, like Akihito and Katsuragi, will be able to form a meaningful relationship over time... I donât think sexual abuse, specifically, would have been necessary as a plot element in order to show how abusive behaviour can drive two people apart, and I understand when people are uncomfortable with this. But of course youâre right, the manga is extremely well written, and I wonder what Hidaka Shoko has in mind for the following chapters and volumes of the series!
