It was some ungodly hour when Yeosang opened the door to his mom and dad's room. He could tell they were both sleeping, so he tried to be as silent as he possibly could while closing the door behind him after stepping in. It had been many, many years since he'd done something like this– he was still a child the last time he crawled into bed with his dad after a bad dream or not being able to sleep.
Tonight was a night he couldn't handle on his own. Sleeping in a bed with no one beside him was hard after so long, and being alone only allowed his mind to run rampant. So he crawled in between his dad and the mom they'd always told him stories about, silently latching on to both of them. Sure, he'd woken them up in the process, but he knew they would just welcome him with open arms. He squeezed his eyes shut while his back was rubbed and his hair stroked, a few tears escaping. Even so, he was happy that he could be with them. It made him feel safe and secure after those had been ripped away from him.
Hongjoong already heard Yeosang's feet quietly walking down the corridor to his shared room with Seonghwa, he wanted to pretend he was asleep but it was impossible because the worry for his child was simply too much. It was a habit he picked up back when the other was little. He would crawl over to Hongjoong's bed at night whenever he had trouble sleeping, nightmares or even just for company. He has been aware of his relationship problems for a little while and knew it was probably the reason why he looked for him and his eomma once more.
As soon as he joined him in bed, he moved enough so that he could fit in the middle while gently pulling him closer in a rather gentle hug, pressing a kiss to his forehead after a little whisper. "Try to sleep, aegi-ya. Everything will be okay." He noticed right away when the tears started to fall, sighing a little while closing his eyes again to try to sleep himself. Hongjoong clearly had issues with this partner Yeosang had but for once he decided to be mature about it and not confront the other, after all he was in no position to do so. Yeosang was already an adult and he could not involve himself in everything he did, not anymore. Nevertheless, he knew this was just another life lesson for his boy and that better things would come in the future.
