Yenna
The Peak Of The Next
Generation
Hello :) I don't know if you've answered this before, apologies if you have, how did dudrow feel about Yenna, more so her joining camp? With Astarion's general distain towards her in the first meeting, I'm struggling to imagine how he'd react given the whole situation.
Well, DU drow quite likes kids. He may not be goofy, playful, or soft on them, but he likes kids all the same. Every little rascal should get to have a chance at learning the ins and outs of life, and he considers himself a fine example to learn from - especially someone as unfortunate as Yenna seems to be. I think that his initial response depends on the sort of day he's having, so it's a 50/50 split whether he tells her to look for help somewhere else, or lets her shelter in their camp - but regardless, after it becomes clear that she doesn't have anywhere to go, he would let her stay. Gods know what would happen to her if left to fend for herself.
And fro that point forward, he'd just let her be entertained by the more child-friendly members of the party - Karlach, Wyll, Jaheira-Kind-Of probably kept her busy enough and out of everyone else's way, and then all he'd do is check in once a day to make sure that everyone is behaving around her - again, you cannot exactly expect him to suddenly turn into DnD Mr. Rogers, but he has his ways of showing that he cares while still keeping children at an arms-length - he knew that himself and Yenna would part ways eventually, after all (though, admittedly, he didn't think it would happen the way that it did).
(Well maybe he'd let her give him little pigtails. Once.)
And DU drow may adore Astarion, but butting heads going against the other one's wishes (sometimes JUST to take the piss, even), is nothing new between them. Astarion would have to threaten to leave or to kill Yenna for DU drow to react to his distaste with anything more dramatic than a scoff and a "you'll live". And as we later see when Yenna is kidnapped by Orin, it seems like Astarion eventually realized that she was, in fact better off with them π€·
seeing yenna all grown up made me feel maternal instincts yall don't understand.

Gapryong, James, and Daniel, the legends of their generation, asked the new legend: Are you the strongest because you are Yenna, or are you Yenna because you are the strongest?

Yenna poor baby...
Orianna's heart is broken listening to Yenna angrily and fearfully exclaim that she won't let that happen to her again, that she'll stick Orin with her potato knife if she comes back.
I headcanon that though in the moment Orianna is firm that Yenna won't need to do that, that she will not allow Orin to come back, when morning comes she and the other members of the party help teach her how to defend herself.
