The Coming Days
I am sitting in an AirBnB basement binge watching Disney VHS and eating as much Korean food as I can before I spend my summer just outside of Yellowstone in Gardiner, Montana. I have been fortunate enough to receive an internship at the Yellowstone Heritage and Research Center(HRC) over the summer. On Saturday June 4 I am going to be moving in to the Youth Conservation Corps dorm located near the Mammoth Hot Springs in Yellowstone.
I don’t yet know what my accommodations are going to be but I am fairly certain I won’t have internet and will be suffering from a lack of 4g cell service. So how well I can keep up with this will depend largely in part to how often I can be connected. Luckily there is plenty of Wi-Fi and 4g available in Gardiner so I should be able to make relatively frequent updates. Although, in general, I am terrible at keeping up with blogs or any consistent writing activity so fingers crossed I even remember I started this.
So, I am not really sure what all my position is going to entail. I think I will be cataloging materials, leading tours of the relatively new facility, and possibly acting as a reference assistant. They say I will get flavor of every thing the HRC is involved with. I would be lying if I said working in the HRC is the most exciting part of this experience. The environment here is amazing and the backdrop of my living situation and the HRC are both breathtaking. I am already so grateful to be offered this opportunity. Pictures will be coming soon, but as for now I still have at the rest of the evening to consume as many VHS classics as possible.
Stay Fresh
