until the outbreak, she's never held a gun-- the weight of which feels more than anything she's held before in her hands. if she failed to use it properly, she could die. she's anxious, her nerves unsteady but she's been quiet about her thoughts. after all, how is anyone to rely on her if she doesn't know what she's doing ? finally, she speaks up to break the deafening silence, " aren't you at least a little anxious ? "
UNPROMPTED / always accepting
THE STENCH OF DEATH almost makes him sick, even if his nostrils long grown used to smell of spilled flesh. the city was in blazing fire with its’ residents gradually decreasing due to an outbreak caused by an infection, he thinks. seeing death face to face wasn’t new to steve & neither would be the sensation of bitterness. luckily, there were survivors but god was he reluctant on cooperating with them. - don’t let them break your walls, ever again.
the girl’s innocuous question baffles him for a brief period before blinking & running his fingers around the golden luger. ❛ why asking that ? ❜ harshly responding, steve looks back at his companion as he leans ‘gainst the wall. ❛ i’m not gonna mope around like a damsel in distress just ‘cuz i’m scared. swallow it up & push on, that’s all. ❜ watch how icarus flung himself without thinking but melted his wings off. ❛ besides, i don’t think we’ve got a choice here. either party with those freaks & die in this city or fight your own damn life. pick your treat. ❜
