𝜗ৎ the morning after with frank castle
Sheets clung to your body, wrapping you up while soft sunlight poured into the room. Frank never liked mornings like this—or at least, he always pretended to hate them. He would wince at the idea of this type of slow intimacy. It was the type that made his heart swell, only for it to sting immediately after, plagued with every moment where he thought he would never find himself here again.
“G’morning,” you mumbled, rolling over to your side, voice still a little caught up with sleep. Your eyes stayed shut, trying to hold onto every last ounce of sleep left in your body. You were warm, and cozy, and the weight of his body next to you gave you all the reassurance you needed.
Frank sat up against the headboard, patched up skin on full display. He didn’t worry about it, though—the scars and stitches weren’t important now that his attention was on you.
“Hey,” he replied, voice equally groggy. There was a roughness in his tone, one that could only be shaken by speaking. He swallowed, hoping he wouldn’t sound as rough, wanting you to enjoy the comfort of these early mornings.
Without saying anything else, he reached out his hand, his fingers a little bit hesitant. They waited over your skin, like he would allow himself to give in to this domestic temptation. They nonetheless found their way to your naked figure. He traced up your arm, letting it sooth you back asleep.
His chest rose and fell, finding a steady rhythm in his actions. Slowly, his hand migrated higher, finding your head as he gently pet your hair, making sure to not let his fingers get caught in any knots.
“Didya sleep well?” He asked, knowing you weren’t fully away yet. Dipping into your scalp he tenderly scratched, watching how you pushed yourself into his touch.
“Mhm,” you hummed, cranking your neck just the slightest, letting him catch a glance at the love-bites that he shamelessly put there the night before.
“Good,” he grunted, content. “Good,” he repeated, this time quieter, letting his eyes close and letting the morning light sink into his skin.
And while he wasn’t a man of many words, you knew he loved you, even if he couldn’t find the right words.
