The chief medical dwarf let out a grim sigh. Her patient was hurt badly, but with some proper medical attention he may pull through. 

Before he could act the giant...thing gobbled up the puppy and turned on him. He tried to run but the beast was faster. Before he everything went black the last thing he saw was the a mighty dwarf, an axe in his hand and bellowing a mighty battle cry!

As a a caravan arrives from the mountain home a group of goblins arrive to ambush them. Three goblins fall victim to traps and the dwarves charge the survivors, driving them off.

Ezum turned the piccolo over in her hands. "It is quite pretty." She admitted, although it was utterly useless. At least the fortress got a new master gem cutter out of the deal.

Ezum buried her face in her hands, nothing useful could possibly come from this.

Eleven more Migrants arrive, each as useless as the next. They are assigned to the menial task of working the fort's magma forges. The total population of the fort is now 119 dwarves. 

Through threats, cajoling, nagging, violence, and other forms of coercion, enough of the tower was completed to allow the marksdwarves a clear line of sight. After several volleys the invaders decide to pack up and head home. The axe squad is sent to dispatch the wounded goblins.

It was a simple plan. Step one: build a tower, step two: station marksdwarves on the tower, step three: Shoot the goblins. However, the masons were too afraid of the goblins on the other side of the wall to build the tower near the wall. The situation was impossible.
