A Word About Beyond: Two Souls
Everything in Beyond: Two Souls is rendered so beautifully. If only the story wasn't so mehhhhhhhhhhh. Ellen Page does the acting good, though, so that's a plus.
One of my big problems with it, though is its use of In Media Res. It doesn't add anything to the story, it just causes confusion about why we're doing what we're doing. If they had done nothing other than changed the order to flow chronologically there would have been so much more weight to some of the scenes. Instead we're supposed to guess why Jodie wants to commit suicide around the 30-35% mark, because we can only assume that something bad enough happened.
In fact I'd argue (granted I'm not done with the game (I'm watching it, not playing it, because, c'mon it's a Quantic Dream game, you don't need to play it)) that putting the game in chronological order would make the story's flow so significantly better because some plot points that seem like they'd make for a great climax are presented about 20-25% of the way through the game.
