Woke up early so I decided to finally draw Walter. I always imagine him wearing dresses (idk why probably because the spirits influenced me or something), so presto! Yay!
Wait, there’s no walrus emoji on my iPad. I cannot give it a lollipop. Never mind. NOT yay.
Yay for Walter though!! 🎊🎊🎉🎉🍾🍾
And also yay for how it turned out. I really like this piece. 😎
shit sorry forgot to specify: sirenity in ☠️for the ask game. my bad
(referencing this)
the people love sirenity what can i say!!! so glad they've gotten so many requests they're (probably) the most fashionable oc
initially thought this was the goth/emo/scene one lmao. oh well. funeral clothing is going to be easier to write out than draw though so you get a wall of text
they encounter. more than their fair share of funerals. in part it's due to them burying (or giving the best approximation of last rites they can to) people who wouldn't get a funeral otherwise - the folks that keel over in the middle of nowhere.
often their "funeral wear" is just a variation of their normal daily outfit; the difference is more in how Sirenity carries(wears?) himself.
if they're given a moment to change clothing, they'd try to change into whatever "respectful funeral wear" looks like for the culture of the person being buried/the people organizing the funeral; ex, removing their armour/coat/helmet (if safe) for a generic farmer family, keeping their armour but removing their helmet+coat for a soldier, etc etc
for, like, a Big Deal funeral that has/had a couple of days before the actual event, they're definitely able to scrape together better outfits (referencing what's respectful for the home culture, of course).
general headcanons about funerals and funeral wear:
- it's a lot more "celebration of life" than "lets all be sad". life and death are a cycle, one i think a lot more people are able to recognize in the day-to-day than they can now, and the whole theme of Change and Beginnings and Endings and Begin Again(ings) is... present, in wasteland funerals.
- black and dark brown is the colour of good soil, something prized and sought after. i think it'd be fun if the black = mourning thing was swapped, like if the dead were buried in darker clothing (in the hopes that their death brings a new or easier life) and mourningwear was lighter colours (difficult to keep clean on purpose - you wear whatever proof of life you encounter afterwards, get stained with it, keep living). something something doctors (who wear white) = heralds, people close to death in a literal sense, something something white hair = a sign of age, a symbol of a life lived, prized and valued for it's rarity, idk i'm spitballing here
- vegas funerals specifically are over-the-top affairs. celebration of life. cleanup isn't a planned thing, it's something that happens naturally as people find new uses for whatever was used in the celebration
