Gooey is pretty much kind of a shapeshifter and solidity of his from heavily depends on his mental state. Any extreme emotion can make him loose his grip on the body, so he kinda starts melting over. Most common nominators for that are negative emotions: fear, grief, shock. Being especially specific - something BAD happening to Kirby (pic 1)
Tho it also can be excitement or exhaustion. The extent of the body melting is fully up to intensity of the emotion
....And in a very rare cases, it can be anger
I rumble a bit abt DM biology under the cut
All Dark Matter are shapeshiters outside of the hosts. They're capable of changing their form since it's not solid from the beginning, but it can't happen purely by the power of will. Dark Matter's appearance very heavily depends on it's way of preciving itself.
Due to their nature being part of the hive mind, DM unit doesn't have an individuality in normal conditions - thus rarely any different traits. They might have some, but those mostly caused by environment and adaption to it.
When unit is separated from the hive, they start to accumulate more and more individualistic traits, gaining sense of self. It's a mix of "what I want to be" and "what I see in the mirror". If that makes any sense. More humanoid form, number of limbs and much more trivial traits like height are born exactly from that mix.
Gooey, growing up in Dreamland for most of his life, just tried to copy Kirby at everything, therefore perceiving himself as a child, growing along with Kirby. It isn't far from truth, cuz even as a DM unit they were pretty young. Haven't even figured out how to morph fingers yet (opposite thumbs are pretty usefull evolutional trait)

A redraw of this thing I made two year ago. Still love the dynamic
Engaging in verbal passive-aggressive conversations with each other is actually very entertaining passtime. This is why their post-Robobot\pre-Star Allies interactions are so fun to me: this is a very shaky ground, riddled with mutual loathing. Susie, who really isn't doing very well after Max dying (technically her fault) and getting the CEO's status to pressure her. Also not actually processing her trauma in AD, but repressing it along with most of her emotions. And MK with his wounded pride, who is frustrated with himself first and foremost. And genuinely not trusting the new CEO of intergalactic corporation, which is kinda valid
I guess I just love the trope of "this evil\annoying person you preserve them as, turns out to be not so evil/annoying"

Miss Anna became the sensation of the Gamble Galaxy almost overnight. Young idol quickly climbed the career ladder, sparing neither herself nor others. Nevertheless, in public she manages to maintain a squeaky clean reputation, hiding her full name - SusANNA Patria Haltmann 2.0
More info under the cut
▲ After his daughter died during a test of the Star Dream interdimensional protocol, Mr. Haltmann was getting closer and closer to the edge. For years, he had been making the same wish on a clockwork star again and again: to bring his girl back to life. But the mechanism remained stationary. Max saw the glass eyes on that damn cat-like metal face open in response to his request, but beyond that, nothing happened. This worthless machine couldn't even fix the tragedy it caused. Instead of bringing mother back into their family, it took away the last thing he had. Mr. Haltmann's condition was already far from stable, when he made a decision: "If magic doesn't help me, then science will" in one of his last attempts to cling to elusive memories
▲ HWC had patents for the cloning technology for some time, although it needed improvement, it was quite capable of recreating the a little girl`s body. However, Mr. Haltmann was gone to far to understand that the clone will be *LIKE* his daughter, but will not *BE* her. He was going to put all the memories of the original into it, of course it had to be her!
▲ The clone turned out to be an immediate disappointment - the hair had the wrong color, the mannerisms are slightly different from those that he is used to. Despite the fact that the girl was just organically developing on the basis of those given memories. But she wasn't good enough for Mr. Haltmann, even when he had almost completely forgotten his daughter due to prolonged exposure to the Mother's Computer. Susanna 2.0 was shelved as a failed project. Max didn't even flinch when it turned out that she had cut off all her ties with HWC and disappeared
▲ Anna has exactly the same data as Susie: starting from vocals and ending with some sadistic tendencies. Which, in the process of her growing up, only worsened due to an acquired inferiority complex, expressed in her absolute hatred of Susie. She identifies all her problems with Susie, projecting very, very hard
▲ When Mr. Haltmann was alive, Anna blamed him for everything (which is deserved), but when she learned that Max Profit Haltmann had died somewhere on the outskirts of the galaxy, and his miraculously-turned-out-to-be-alive daughter took the CEO place... Anna will make sure, this isn't for long.
▲ She felt strange. This man didn't care about her at all. So why then are her eyes burning and she wants to burst into tears?
▲ "Do you know what it's like to remember something and know that these memories aren`t yours? To look in the mirror and see someone you hate?"
Whoops, someone had to try to cover the silly knight's face from prying eyes
Susie loooooves teasing MK about his stupidly adorable face. Yet she quickly learned why this is such a sensitive topic for him - people literally don't take him seriously. In his case "adorable" isn't a compliment but more of a demeaning insult he got fed up with. It made sense he hid his soft features under the helmet or mask and not like Susie is the one to talk (She still talks, cuz she is a hypocrite)
So it's a very special moment when he willingly takes of the mask with her, because she can smooch those cheeks with angry blush. I mean, if he lets her doing this, could it mean he likes when she specifically calls him cute?
