hi holy shit I just wanna let u know that ur Andrew enchanted thing is the best thing I've ever seen and I hope we get to see more of it soon!!!
hi! i’m currently getting a major ass-kicking from school and i have a couple other projects with higher priority, but hopefully i’ll one day write the full fic :0 here’s a little snippet that i wrote a while back though :)
“Neil,” Nicky says, sidling a little closer to him than he’d like, even if there is still a wall of empty space between them. He looks nervous and tired and wretched, and his knee jitters up and down to a staccato beat.
Neil takes pity on him. “Yeah?”
Nicky opens his mouth, closes it, then all at once blurts, “How do you get Andrew to listen to you? I mean, he has to do what you tell him to, but usually he’ll find the pettiest way to get it done.”
Without meaning to, Neil’s gaze wanders over to Andrew. He’s sitting by the window with his earphones in, music blasted loud enough to drown everything out, and he looks like he’s somewhere a million miles away.
“I ask,” Neil says dryly.
“I know, I know, so do I. Like, I get that he hates being ordered around, but he always refuses whenever anyone tries asking. So what do you do differently?”
Neil thinks of the tension in Andrew’s shoulders, of the way they reflexively tighten whenever someone starts talking. He things of the way Andrew always looks at him, like he’s challenging Neil to go back on his word. “I don’t know. It’s his choice whether or not he’ll do anything. I won’t make him.”
“I guess you’d be the first.” There’s something bitter in Nicky’s voice, and maybe something a little close to guilt. “My mom called me, first time in years. She said they want us to come over for Thanksgiving. Think you can ask him to agree?”
“Why do you need Andrew?” Neil asks instead of answering.
“They want the twins to be there. Family and all that,” Nicky tells him, a sad smile pulling at the corners of his mouth. “I thought - I’m hoping that they’re finally going to lift my curse. That maybe they’re ready to accept me.”
It’s obvious the way Nicky’s curse is wearing down on him. He loses a little bit of his cheer after every video call to Erik, gets a little more touchy and strained, like he needs some sort of contact or he’ll shatter.
Neil steals one last glance at Andrew, watches the slow rise and fall of his chest, and tries not to be angry about how unfair everything is. “Okay,” he finally says. “I’ll try.”
