omg thank you for asking anon!! i had a backstory in my head when i first thought of the idea for yan mage but i totally forgot about it😭 anyway here is the general idea hope it makes sense:
before turning back time, reader was simply living their lavish life as the youngest child of the grand duke. with such a high standing in society, reader meets the hero's party during the banquets held at the royal palace, eventually growing closer to the group. while all this time, yan mage's feelings continue to grow stronger and stronger.
the demons' sudden attack on the capital results in reader's death despite yan mage and the rest of the hero party attempt to save them. after going back to the past, reader's memories of their own death pushes them to move away from the capital and live a quiet life, because living as an aristocrat was what led them to meeting the hero's party, eventually getting killed. reader simply takes this whole 'went back in time' thing as a second chance from god, only to find out it was yan mage's doing when he shows up at their door.
