. . Recently I’ve been thinking about guardrails, borders, the things that are supposed to keep us on the right path. More and more now, those things seem to be falling away in all aspects of the world. This made me think about the parameters I put on my own writing career. . When I first started writing, I had no intention of working on one, much less two, historical books, but as the ideas formed in my head, I knew they were the right stories to tell. . Now I’m at another bend in the road. There are no guardrails or borders, only me looking at a career full of possibilities. . What does that mean for me? It means that I can write in any category and genre. That when ideas come, I don’t feel beholden to my brand. That those untold stories about women in history you don’t know, but should, can be told through another colorful form of narrative. That the story I love about two ex-high school sweethearts connecting again, can have a place in the world. . Without the guardrails, I feel free to travel those new paths and decide where they lead. It gives me hope and joy to think about where those, as of now, uncharted roads may go! . . . #writinglife #yawriter #yawritersofinstagram #yawritersoninstagram #yabooknerd #historicalfiction #contemporaryromance #picturebooks #writinginspiration #writersofig #writingcommunity https://www.instagram.com/p/CEe9Ad3ADiy/?igshid=15bezhb7p1t6f
