2011 - a summer day in the park
It’s a warm summer evening that finds Shinhye in the park, looking around and enjoying the green and colours of nature. Her life has been moving like a whirlwind these days, so it feels good to stop and take a minute to just unwind. Breathe. There are a few squirrels scurrying about, gathering food. Perhaps in order to prepare for winter already, or perhaps just to have food for the day. Shinhye remembers the random fact she found out that squirrels only manage to find twenty percent of the nuts they bury. It makes her huff out a bit of a laugh, shaking her head lightly at the sight of the creatures.
As her eyes continue to roam over her surroundings, it isn’t long before she is faced with an even more peculiar sight. What looks to be a girl camping out in the park with very little to nothing to her name. Pausing in her steps, Shinhye takes in the situation, wondering what it is that the girl is doing there. Admittedly camping on an evening like this is not so bad, but they’ve predicted rainfall overnight and the girl is all alone rather than with friends - which is what really makes a camping trip to Shinhye: not doing it alone.
Putting herself into motion again, Shinhye walks over to where the young woman is sitting, noticing she doesn’t even have anything to eat with her. A frown instantly appears on her face, because leaving someone without food is something she just can’t get herself to do. She comes to a stop again near the girl, the frown having cleared and made way for a friendly smile.
“Evening.” She nods politely, shortly taking in the girl’s assembly of things. “I couldn’t help but notice you here. I was wondering if you would allow me to get you a nice meal?” She motions at herself quickly. “I haven’t had dinner yet and I don’t really like to eat alone, so you’d do me a huge favour by joining me, actually.” Some people don’t like to take kindness without doing something in return, so Shinhye hopes the reassurance that it is more for her own sake will help the girl accept her offer.
She doesn’t look all that worse for wear, so maybe her being in the park is just a one night thing, but still. Shinhye can’t in clear conscience leave the girl where she is and not try and help at least a little.
