Perfectionist-ism
What I am doing right now is nothing short of ridiculous. I have A MILLION other things I could be doing; however, I am trying to do something I know that I am capable of doing: technology. In the midst of all this apple talk, I realized I lost most of my ability to do anything technologically savvy quite a while ago. Maybe it happened back when I got my first Ipod and didn't understand you needed an Itunes to use it, or maybe when I got so caught up in school that everything else just kind of went on a back burner.
I'm not quite sure when all of that memory was lost or stolen by the biology books that took up most of my memory bank...but at some point, I lost it. I run away from apple products frankly because I don't know how to use them and too embarrassed to ask... haha. I think I WILL eventually update my good ole Nano, and upgrade my BB to the new whatever Iphone that is out at said time; but until then, I am good at what I know I can do.
Its funny, we had this teacher come in and train us on a program known as iSpace or Xythos a year ago and that was a day that we literally sat there wondering WTF would we EVER use such a program and umm what the HELL are you talking about dude? Nobody knew, understood it, or cared. I however sat there in awe at how tickets, and file sharing, permissions and etc could connect us to an advanced system of public file sharing in which I'd never seen before. I was recently sent a rather large, yet helpful file through this media that was given to me, but in a rather unsharable fashion. Whoever sent it, didnt allow the permissions of anyone else but me to open the file...so for the past hour, I have been uploading, downloading and creating my own files/tickets/ and permissions. It is the NERDIEST SHIT in the world...I haven't a clue why I even wrote about it...but I am proud to operate SOMETHING technologically advanced for a change.
The point is, when you are a perfectionist, you will do whatever it takes until you crack the code, understand the material, or figure things out on your own. If you realize that you are capable of doing something, you will or should challenge yourself to do it. As dumb as it may feel or as difficult as it may be to understand why at that time you're doing it...just know that it will have meaning when its done. To the recipients who will receive this rather large, but helpful file...I hope it is worthwhile...in the meantime, I will need a how to use apple for dummies.
