How I feel about this character:

He is my squeaky toy and I am gently chewing on him like a happy dog soothing itself to sleep. I’m really drawn to characters who are not just religious, but genuinely spiritual on top of whatever external structure the organization of their religion has imposed upon them. He became my favorite character during his drunk karaoke scene, and cemented himself as such in his scene with Koveyook; the look on his face when he said his name brought me to genuine tears. A++ acting Mr. Raftery, thank u for ur service

All the people I ship romantically with this character:

Tozer is first in line in my heart, of course. And the Lieuts as a throuple are great. Hodgson’s brain scares me a little which is why I don’t write from his perspective but him and Irving as a pair make the most sense textually lol

My non-romantic OTP for this character:

Lieuthrouple obvi (Do Not Separate Them!!!!) but also I’m fascinated by a hypothetical Irving and Jopson friendship. They’re both so odd in such specific ways

My unpopular opinion about this character:

Okay………idk how unpopular this is but I don’t think him being attracted to men is a headcanon, I think it’s not only fully textual but very likely what the people working on the show were using to structure his scenes. To be clear, I love the myriad of interpretations in fanwork; that’s a space for playing with the story, I would never dictate other people’s interpretations of him!! However, thinking about the show itself, and coming at the character from an actor’s perspective, interpreting him as queer feels to me like the most natural way to 1. heighten the stakes and intensify his relationships with his scene-partners, and 2. to make his place in the story as meaningful as possible. If I were playing this role, I think interpreting him as queer would give me the strongest hold on why he does the things he does. It would be the most helpful and vibrant choice.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:

‘omw to get severed and it’s all your fault’ lol

this is so funny 😭 like damn i must have done something really fucked up

but fr i'm so excited for you!! severance is probably on my list of top 10 best written shows i've ever seen. like it kinda has a similar writing style as lost in some ways, if you like lost you'll probably like severance too. i hope you enjoy it <3
