I wouldn't have been such a scared kid sensitive to so much media if I wasn't taught that demons and witchcraft and curses are real and that aliens, monsters, ghosts, etc are also real--demons in disguise.
Do you know how many damn times I've heard a chr.istian refuse to help someone or excuse their mistreatment of someone by saying "God comes first."
I'm not referring to the things everyone talks about like bigotry. I mean shit like not giving to the homeless because it's "not what God is calling them to do" or forcing their sick child to go to church on Sunday. Stood up their neighbor who they promised to drive to work today? They were called to stay home and pray instead.
God comes first so if they can find some way to bring God into it when they don't want to do the right thing for a fellow person, they will. If they want to feel better about being selfish or uncompassionate, they will bring God into it.
Because with God, all things are excusable. And sure, they're wronging you, but it doesn't matter because they're doing right by the most important being in the universe. So if you criticize them, you're just less devoted to the Lord or you're a stupid lost nonchristian who will never understand.
I've seen and heard this a lot from Conservative C.hristians. And it's always pissed me off at how ridiculous it is, even as a kid who did think it was bad to "take the Lord's name in vain."
1.) Respecting a religion does not mean following that religion's rules. Give me a break. Imagine if a C.hristian made a post mentioning God and a Jewish person commented like "Hey it's really disrespectful to write out G--'s name like that." That would be preposterous to them and yet they inflict that on other people.
2.) It's not hurting anyone. It's just something harmless that they don't like. Such as plain red Starbucks cups.
3.) There are a million gods in this world. And yet they assume it's theirs.
4.) 90% of the time people say it, they aren't actually referring to any god anyway. 'God' isn't always a proper noun. People may still capitalize it because that's what's taught to be grammatically correct in English regardless of whether you even believe in one, which I always found ridiculous. But being grammatically correct according to current customs is not an indication anyone is actually referring to a specific god.
It was always about how The World would lead you astray so you needed to stay sheltered within conservative xtian influence. Like damn... then why is The World actually nice to me and xtian influence nonstop tearing me apart; why is The World actually nicer to people and xtian influence wants me to be fake nice so I can get a hand in people's enclosures to beat them

Fundies are like the most valid feminist thing a girl can do is marry and obey her husband as a loyal housewife that pops out five xtian babies. That is real feminism. It's feminism I swear.

Fundie women are rlly like 'I'm bad at leading. Women aren't meant to be leaders.'
Speak for yourself, dumbass. Ever hear of Joan of Arc? Cleopatra? The many many many women in your city that are depended on for their leadership in order to keep everything running? I'm sorry your religious community blinded you to reality but you don't get to drag down the name of your gender just because you personally suck at something.

'Different but equal'
I will tear you apart with my teeth. You force them to be different in such a way that is unequal.
