   I’ve seen people saying all these rumors are as if Laxus needed alibis because he is not ready to come out yet and I kinda like the theory :p (tbh I found this part great but I understand your salt :x)  

I've read similar theories/headcanons actually and I like them! I actually had no problem with these panels because to me personally it just felt like Mashima was going for the wild any girl Laxus interacted with once somehow + Laxus shipping and trolled them a little/made sure to mention write them off as only rumors.

Sometimes people like a post to make the person feel like she is not being ignored. Maybe they can’t help, or disagree with what is said without wanting to start a discourse, but they feel like it’s better to leave a like than completely ignore a post. At least that’s my assumption. ;)
