Ayo! To make gifs like you do, what would be a good program to get? I want to eventually be able to make my own animations and then hook them up to a midi controller to control movements further, but for now I should start small. Any suggestions?
Hi!
I would suggest looking at the Processing programming language. There is a good sized community, with lot of tutorials to learn from & libraries to expand it. A lot of the fun & challenge is learning new techniques & then applying it to things you already know.
I also use NodeBox which is a GUI based programming environment where you patch things together. It’s a nice choice if writing code is intimidating & it does some neat things that I like. It’s very quick to prototype in, but ultimately is not as flexible as Processing can be.
If 3D is your thing, I know a lot of other artists are making great things with either Blender or Cinema4D. I don’t have much experience with those though.
Cheers!
