don’t play with fire, wonsik ! it was a common rule thrown around the four walls of the old family home in the corners of his memory, in fact, it was something said more than any other scolding he’d ever received. but at the same time, it was perhaps one of the biggest misconceptions his parents could ever make in regards to their son, simply because he couldn’t just stop playing with fire. he was fire.
it was from day one that he felt people then had an excuse to try and control him, and gradually it was driving him up the freaking wall. they were trying to control a wildfire that was bursting at the seams they’d tried to create. he was burning away each stitch with an anger that bubbled and boiled deep within him, and whenever those flames managed to burst through the openings, someone got hurt - either himself or some unfortunate soul too close for comfort. first it had been his mother, and now, as the clarity once more fell upon him and caused his eyes to grow wide; it was the poor student who sat huddled away from him as they clutched their arm in fear and pain.
it wasn’t often than he overheated in such a way, but perhaps since he had unlocked the hidden ability of flight ( which subsequently converted him to a human mass of flames ) did those meltdowns become just that little more dangerous. with his feet lingering just above the ground below him, he stared forward in shock as the student was quickly ushered away by friends, leaving wonsik to touchdown again as the flames dispersed and melted away to reveal the human beneath.
“ i ... i didn’t mean it, “ a mere mutter that carefully fell from parted lips as he suddenly felt all those moments of repeated warnings come racing back. how could he say sorry for something he could have controlled ? he felt his words catch in his throat as he found himself completely alone, his shocked expression twisting to one of worry and concern. he was well and truly screwed, and he had no way of talking his way out of this one.
