ah yes, xin the resident angst bucket and nillia who i keep forgetting has two L’s in her name

Xin was one of the members of the original clan led by Nadja, before Edel, Meri, and Mor’s coup. He was also the closest to Nadja; he and his best friend were the first to join after Adrian, and Xin was Nadja’s most trusted advisor. He had mentioned to her when Meri first arrived that he felt uneasy about him, but she insisted that she wouldn’t turn away Lili (another close friend)’s grandson and his best friend based solely on gut feeling. Xin still regrets to this day that he didn’t press her harder to listen to him. They might all still be alive.

He’s still in the clan basically for Kit’s sake - he knows that Meri would hunt them down if they left, and while he’s just about done caring about his own life, the thought of Kit being killed isn’t something he can stand.

His scars are from an attack that he barely managed to survive when he was younger. He’d flown a little off course, into a Plague clan’s territory, and they’d clawed him right out of the sky. To this day he’s uncertain how he escaped and how he made it to the Icefield, and still carries a prejudice against red eyes.

Nillia is Clan Menglong’s messenger but also resident Mom Friend. She’s kind, warm-hearted, and sweet as apple pie, and always happy to lend an open ear or a shoulder to cry on or some sincere, thoughtful advice. She would be happy to offer apple pie also except she’s an awful cook. Has to do with always being on the move, probably, doesn’t allow for learning much fine cuisine. Also, despite being distant and aloof about herself and her past, she’s a definite extrovert and likes being with people and is something of an incorrigible flirt when it comes to ~the ladies~.

Xinqing:

2. It’s not really an interesting nom de guerre, but Xin is Clan Menglong’s healer. He heals people. And grouches while doing it.

3. His childhood was fairly happy - he’s from a fairly mid-sized clan in the Windswept Plateau, the youngest of his parents’ many children. His fondest memories are likely those of his first foray into the Twisting Crescendo, with the wind whipping through his feathers and his siblings’ laughter carrying over even the storm. His worst memory? The assault he suffered as an adolescent that nearly killed him, and which he still bears the scars of now.

41. Bisexual or pan, probably? Possibly grey-ace? To be honest, I haven’t thought about Xin in relationships much at all, which is odd considering he’s one of my oldest permas orz.He values personal/inner strength and passion very highly. Despite being a grouchy old man trapped in a younger man’s body, he’s surprisingly empathetic, and tends to be drawn to other empathetic souls. He likes people who know the value of silence and needs someone who’ll give him his personal space, but also (though he’d never admit it) really kind of needs someone who’s willing to drag him out of his self-induced grumpy isolation from time to time.

Niente:

2. Still not a fun title, but he’s one of Menglong’s diplomats/ambassadors! haha i wanna start calling him “the silvertongue” because it’s funny and i’m lame sorry

3. Niente’s past is still something of a mystery and I am loathe to spoil it (read: i’m still trying to iron it out but i’m lazy so it’s been like a year oops), so let’s just say that he got along very well with a certain stable boy and significantly less well with his parents.

41. He’s homoromantic bisexual and likes pretty people. like i’m not kidding dude can be super shallow and really likes pretty things. Mentally, he really appreciates people who he can trade snarky, flirty banter with, and who’ll keep him on his toes. He’s also kind of a romantic at heart, and needs someone who’ll let him do embarrassingly sweet things, possibly including grand public gestures, and shower them in presents and general affection..

Fulbright:

2. He’s a Captain of the Redwood Court, one of @markhor-fr’s clans! He’s also known as Fulbright the Volatile for his. Questionable temperament. 

3. Fulbright’s childhood was fairly happy! He and his brother grew up in fairly refined Court society, thanks in part to their mother’s connections, but also spent a fair amount of time training and learning to fight under their uncle. Fulby did, however, grow up in the shadow of his older brother, which has led to a few bumps and bruises in their relationship. His worst memory was probably overhearing his father talking to his brother about his shortcomings; to a younger, more impressionable, and even more impulsive Fulbright, the (admittedly true) criticism stung. His favorite memory? Probably meeting his first cat because he is a sucker for the tiny fluffy things.

41. Fulby’s probably straight? token straight friend of my lair pfft. He appreciates free-spirited people who aren’t afraid or too reserved to express who they are and how they’re feeling; the stifled attitudes of Court ladies never really appealed to him. He needs someone with strong emotional stability - his own volatility means that he at times needs someone to help ground him.

Magpie:

2. He’s the captain of the Fairfeather, a pirate ship, and even “Magpie” is something of a title! His birthname was Soroka Alexei Valentine.

3.Maggie wasn’t particularly happy as a child; he always felt stifled by the mediocrity and boredom of life in his home clan, and left as soon as he came of age. He joined the ranks of a navy as a young adult, and flourished there. He doesn’t particularly have a least favorite childhood memory; all he really recalls from then was a general sense of apathy. His favorite childhood memory? Leaving.

41. Pan, probably! Relationships aren’t something he’s thought a lot about - or at all, really. There’s just no interest, not when he has his crew and the open sea to occupy him. He tends to be drawn to people like Sesha and Aelyn, his main “love interests” (read: Maggie’s dense as all fuck about his own feelings and is yet unaware of his giant nerd crushes), who are both taking an active part in pursuing their own futures.

Shuixian:

2. She’s called the “sea witch of the autumn gales”; she’s not entirely sure where she got it, it’s kind of just always been a part of her. Her parents, maybe?

3. She had a happy childhood, with supportive parents and brothers! Though she’d been adventurous as a child, her parents never really scolded her for wanting to explore and run off, especially because they recognized that she was, in part, doing so to protect her little brothers. Her favorite memory was probably the discovery of the small, seashore cove that became her and her brothers’ favorite place to play. The worst, the time she wandered just a little too far and was separated by her parents; for a while after it happened, she’d been too afraid to explore, but the wanderlust she inherited from her father eventually overcame the fear.
