It began with the princess thinking that she would rather go back to sleep than do anything productive after her shower. That led to her thinking she needed a break, which made her mumble out the lyric, “Need a break time~” She was quiet for a few moments as the song began to float about in her head, and eventually she broke out into singing it with earnest.

She jumped at the sound of a knock on the door. “I didn’t know you can sing--” came Xiao-mei’s voice. Vartouhi huffed out a laugh, running her hands through her wet hair. She’d been on Earth so long, she was unused to performing. It was a thought that made her smile sadly.

“I was trained on my home planet,” she answered, just loud enough that the other would hear her over the sound of running water.

“I’d like to hear it not through a door with the shower drowning it out, sometime,” the other suggested, and Vartouhi could hear the smile in her voice.

18. Do you agree with capital punishment?

Jieun found the concept of a psychologist a bit strange.  Then again, as a witchling raised in the forest by an antisocial sorceress, most things considered normal in the mortal world appeared strange to her.  She did not understand how  a stranger could analyze your feelings and diagnosis a personal problem. She grew up believing that only she could explain how she felt...until now.

For awhile, Jieun noticed a change in her body.  Periodically, especially around the full moon, she could feel the amount of magic coursing through her veins multiply. It would cause her to endure steady pain for weeks, leaving her rolled in a tight ball and sweat dripping from her brow.  There was no explanation for her suffering in any books she read.  For most creatures of the darkness, the full moon brought times to rejoice. For her, it brought great anguish and confusion. Part of her wondered if it had to do with her being half human but still retaining her immortality as a witch. It was quite rare that a half breed could keep the traits of the stronger species and perhaps this was it coming back to bite her.

At this point, she wondered if it was all in her head.  She needed someone who would understand the witch side and mortal side of her brain. Someone who could explain what was happening to her before the next full moon.  With a not-so clever alias, she signed up for an appointment with the only psychologist she could trust. The secretary walked out with a notepad, glancing around the waiting room.

“Lee Eunji?”  Jieun stood up slowly at the sound of her “name” before walking into the little office. She smiled shyly as she greeted her old friend.

“How are you, laoshi?”
