Smoke curling around him, Kit lied back in the grass as he stared up at the clouds above them. One arm was tucked behind his head and the one that was now stone held the lit joint that he had spent the past hour or so passing back and forth to Grey. He had others in his pocket just in case they ran through this one and wanted to keep the lazy day they had going on. Sure they could and probably should be training but this was much more fun. “Hey Grey,” turning his head to face the son of Hades, Kit had a lazy smile on his face that should have been a clear sign to the other that what was about to come out of his mouth was pure stupidity, “what do you call an angry carrot?” He didn’t even wait for Grey to answer before he told him-- “a steamed veggie!” Then he burst into laughter clearly pleased by his own joke. “Get it! An angry carrot! Steamed veggie!” Laughter poured out of him and soon tears were in his eyes from how hard he was laughing at his own corny joke. 

He still hurt; every part of him hurt. He went to the infirmary and got a few potions to help with the pain that lingered in his body but it was nothing compared to the ambrosia in his flask. It took the pain off of him but it couldn’t help the lingering in his mind; that fear of death he claimed to not have. Over a year ago in his mortal life his heart had given out, his brain following in suit. He had thought he had gotten over his fear but as soon as he slipped into an unconscious this time in a puddle of water he knew that fear wasn’t gone. Not really. As soon as the infirmary let him go he was finding his way to Mageia and slipping inside. Up the stairs, down the hall, go through the door and he was crawling into bed behind Greyson with a soft whimper of pain. Everything hurt but at least having Grey in his arms helped. 

“Why are you making that noise!” Ender yelled out at the small creature that had hopped up on his lap a few seconds prior. There he was, sitting outside smoking his cigarette lost in thought - and admiring the pretty colors that were passing through his vision like a rolling river - when what seemed like a cat crawled up onto him and began SCREECHING at him. Of course he soon realized it wasn’t a cat but still had no idea why it was yelling at him, which lead to his current predicament-- yelling back at it trying to be louder than it was. “I don’t know what you want! You can’t have my cigarette! I’s mine!” It wasn’t good for humans let alone whatever this thing was. 

Ender Brooks would have thought that by the this point in his life he would have gotten over the whole ‘black out drunk thing’ without remembering the night before. Especially now that he knew what blood ran pulsated through his veins and that he was the physical son of a god who was worshiped by getting black out drunk, he assumed that those days were over. Yet there he was groaning as the sun hit his eyes causing the pain to flash through his head. Rolling over in bed he practically landed on another warm body that he wasted no time pulling into his arms before cracking a single eye to realize that he had no idea whose room he was in. It didn’t look familiar, but the naked tattooed boy in his arms did. “Where are we?” His voice was gravely as he spoke, placing a kiss to the side of Grey’s neck. “Don’t remember...” It was too early for full sentences it seemed. 

It had been a few days since they came back from the quest and the image of Lilac having her vicious hold on Grey’s neck wouldn’t disappear from his mind. Alone in bed when he tried to close his eyes and slip off into a dream like state it was all he could see. No matter what booze or pill he took that image was still there taunting him with what he had almost lost for good... Ender didn’t even stop himself as he let his feet guide him to the familiar room nor did he stop himself from knocking at the door that he used to just walk into unannounced. Two simple raps on the wood he waited until there was an answer needing to see it for himself that Greyson was still alive. Maybe then he could finally get some sleep.

Stone cold sober. That is how you knew when Ender was going through some shit when he didn’t have a drop of alcohol in his system. Most people drank when life got rough - and Ender did that as well - but when things got really serious he didn’t touch it. Arriving back from his little solo quest early in the morning, Ender had went straight to his room and curled up into a ball on the bed just staring at the wall. He hadn’t even changed out of his armor as the words he had yelled up into an empty sky swirled around in his head. I was calling your name before I even know who the fuck you were...you knew nothing was wrong with me and you just let them... Ender hadn’t even notice what time it was until he heard a small noise the came from his door opening and without moving his head he turned his eyes to land on the small boy he had grown so fond of. Without even saying a word Ender tried to offer a small smile and outstretched his hand towards Grey, a silent invitation to cuddle and a silent plea for contact.
