Over the past few years, Xeno and Spirit's relationship has experienced ebbs and flows — not uncomfortably, not tragically or unfortunately. Fluctuating closeness has just been a symptom of family that must live apart — a symptom of Spirit's consistently arduous quest to get and stay sober — a symptom of Sebastian protecting Spirit, and, in a sense, Xeno from Kazimir's violence and wrath.
Spirit still considers Xeno like family due to the similar traumas they'v endured. (The facilities, the addiction, the Kazmir of it all.) She invites him to lunch — somewhere Xeno could never fathom affording without Sebastian's money footing the bill. Then they go to the park. These days are rare, and she treasures them. She doesn't want it to end, doesn't want Xeno to leave.
Spirit ensures Xeno has a steady supply of paint and canvases, even if she has to store what won't fit in his backpack in the apartment. She brings these here to the park, lets Xeno's talent run wild. With time, he's only improved.
"I hope the weather stays like this forever." Being married to Sebastian, there's little opportunity to bask in the sun. "I'm guessing you'd prefer if it was colder. You're the only person I've ever seen look sickly in spring. Are you feeling alright — really, seriously?"
