@xchilless
oh, sure. I’m used to sharing the tale by now.
so my brother and I were little kids, our Dad was never around, we loved our Mom more than anything. we decided to try alchemy one day. alchemy’s a kinda-sorta science where you take matter, deconstruct it, and reconstruct it as something else. it’s hard for even adults to wrap their head around, so little kids, like, 7-8 years old being able to perform it successfully? it’s surprising.
mom got sick and died a little while later. we didn’t know what to do, at least I didn’t. brother told me he was gonna bring her back with alchemy, and needed my help. not one to be a downer, I agreed.
human transmutation is big taboo in the world of alchemy. you Don’t Do The Thing, as it has horrible consequences. you see, alchemy follows the rule of equivalent exchange. if something is to be gained, another thing of equal value must be lost. bringing a human back from the dead… it requires transmutation of their soul. and there’s not a lot that can equal such a thing.
we spent a long time perfecting our skills and reworking our theories. it was difficult, but in the end, we thought we were ready.
I was ten when my brother lost his left leg and I lost my whole body. I don’t remember much of what it was like when my soul was free-floating. my brother then sacrificed his right arm to save me, binding my soul to a suit of armor. and, we did manage to create something with our transmutation. but it wasn’t really human, and it was nowhere close to mom.
that got a little long, huh? sorry.
✱ ...you do a lot of stupid things for people you love. i’m not surprised. i’ve done a helluvah lot of stupid things for my brother, my dad. magic, though.. i’ve done some alchemy. in my apprenticeship. dad was proud, even though he wanted me in astrology and metaphysics like him.
✱ which... i guess leads into my story, huh?
✱ ...
✱ a long time ago...
About 7'3"
((oh man i forgot about how big al is))
Send your character’s height and I’ll compare it to mine.
oh you seem okay thank the Angel. I was really worried about you.
✱ heh. whoa, dude, thanks. that’s... sweet.
✱ i keep bumping into things because i’m not used to this level of depth perception.
