SO YOU WANNA BE AN ACTOR?
ok, so can i hop on a soap-box for just a few seconds?  I am shocked that so many actors and recent graduates from training programs are asking me how to find work or agents.  Or saying they have no work for the summer because they did not get an agent form their SHOWCASE.  Or they say they couldn't get seen for audition because they were Not part of  Actors' Equity Association.  This is a problem and there are so many outlets and ways to find good work.  I feel that in some cases your training program let you down if they only taught you to audition.  There is a whole BUSINESS side to ShowBusiness and you need to learn that too.  Not having work for the summer in my opinion is unacceptable when we have have hundreds of summer companies hiring actors every year.  Get thee to an audition conference and start working, networking, and making money.  ok  stepping off the box but this really angers me and makes me feel bad for the kids trying so hard to make it in this industry.  I graduated from Viterbo University in 1998 (yes its a real school) and we don't do a showcase and I have never been unemployed.  Joined the union in 2000 and came to NYC in 2004.  From day 1 in 1994 that school demanded that we work and find work so upon graduating I had worked all over the country already.
