11 and 28 for the writer's ask game :D :D ♡♡♡
11. Do you believe in the old advice to “kill your darlings?” Are you a ruthless darling assassin? What happens to the darlings you murder? Do you have a darling graveyard? Do you grieve?
Betts' wrote about this in the latest edition of her newsletter. I took nothing but notes and I still don't know if I have any WIPs.
She says, 'I don't believe in killing your darlings, except when you really have to,' which is what I imagine the first person to give this advice said. But I'm far removed from a professional writing environment, so what do I know.
I've killed a few darlings. Either jokes that don't make it into the manuscript or some kind of gaping wound. Dial that back. Turn down the rating. Make sure that you don't feel anything when you read it. I can't stand being dependent on what other people think of me. I don't even love being liked, I just need to be everyone's special little girl or I will start shaking like a chihuahua.
I should delete that too! Icky feelings. Icky icky icky. Bothering you and ruining your life and contaminating you. You're welcome<3
28. Who is the most delightful character you’ve ever written? Why?
I'M PICKING AN OC. Lin Ursa.
Assassin falls for the person he was sent to kill and ends up fretting over her to a ridiculous degree. Ex-assassin feels so, so evil about being attracted to someone who literally likes him back. Double agent misses his not-girlfriend so much he starts crying and has to make up an excuse. HE HELPS HER WITH HER HAIRRR aaaaaaaa HE GETS SO FLUSTERED EVERY OTHER SECOND aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa HE REALIZES HE HAS TO BE A REAL PERSON IN ORDER TO PROTECT HER UEUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
(And no, I haven't written anything. I just. Them.) (ALSO HE'S PRETTY(TM))
