I bought these tickets over a month in advance.  I was excited to see Wu-Tang, and my friend, Def-1, talked up Empires of the Sun so much, I had to see them too.  Tickets were about $180 after taxes and fees for a pair- which is usually how I buy tickets.  A local Emcee and new friend, Doug Funnie, joined me. 

Break Away took place at Frisco's FC Dallas Stadium, which is one of my favorite venues.  "Field" means something closer to a pit section.  It's a soccer stadium, so the seats surround a pit area and they build a stage at one side of it.  Edgefest usually takes place here, which is one of my favorite local festivals.  FC Dallas Stadium has air conditioned bathrooms which helps in the Texas heat at those day long festivals.  Not to mention, it's the best venue to get the best view of the band.  I like to be all up in their grills, not hundreds of feet away.  I've seen some of the best shows at FC Dallas. 

Juicy J was there when me and Doug arrived.  He's everything you thought he'd be, carrying a bottle of Crystal, causing girls of all ages to twerk, rapping about sex and "scholarships" aka sending a stripper through college.  Of course, he busted out with some Three 6 with "Sippin on Some Sizzer" and "Gotta Stay Fly" and repped UGK.  I know they're not from Dallas, but they're part of the movement that helped put Texas on the map for underground hip hop to main stream.  Gotta give props where props are due. 

Next was some jam band, they weren't bad, but me and Doug chilled in the stands for a bit, had a few OVERPRICED drinks and I ate something that was not worth $4.  Right after jam bands set, we headed to claim a spot for Wu-Tang.  We got about 6 people back, and I was happy!  They came out, only short Method Man and ODB (RIP).  The crowd was so into it, putting up the W with their hands, spitting the lyrics with them.  They did all the hits, "C.R.E.A.M.", "Wu Tang Klan Ain't Nothing to Fuck With" "Shimmy Shimmy Yeah", plus so many more I'm sure I'm forgetting. They were everything you ever hoped Wu-Tang to be.  They engaged with the crowd, moved around on stage, spit the lyrics with perfect flowetry....  They still got it.

I think Big Gigantic was after that, they drew a big crowd.  Very different music.  We chilled for a minute, got some more food and drinks, checked out the EDM tent with the 12inch Pimps.  They did have turntables but they were using digital either Serato Scratch Live or something like it. 

Then Matt and Kim took the stage.  A keyboard, drums and vocals is all this band had and I'm telling you they ROCKED IT!  They interacted with the crowd, made little jokes with the song "I woke up in a new Bugatti." Kim stood on her drums, jumped around, walked out and shook her booty on the crowd.  Very nice show.  Decent music. 

Last but not least, Empire of the Sun.  Wow, what a production!  They had costumes, a light show, dancers with choreography and costume changes....I mean it was a full on production.  The music is pretty good, almost electronic, definitely spacey.  We were pretty wiped out so we left about half way through the set to avoid traffic. 

I would say that the $200+ I spend on the concert wasn't really worth it except there was a moment when me and my crew got a photo opp with U-God from Wu-Tang.  That made it worth every penny I spent. 

Side note:  The DJ that was spinning between acts could have been better...just saying.  I know plenty in Dallas that would have rocked between sets and probably used vinyl too, like DJ Love, Vinyl Countdown, Def-1, Lite-1 and DJ Bilal just to name a few.  Again, ALL VINYL.  The crowd wasn't too responsive to him either.
