Monthly reggae disco in North-East London playing dub, dancehall, roots, rockers, ska, rocksteady and other bass transmissions on two turntables and a space echo. After the excitement of the legendary Dennis Bovell damn well taking the roof off the place last month, for the July session we're delighted to welcome DJ and producer Wrongtom to select some his favourite reggae tunes. Originally hailing from South London but now residing over the postcode border from us in Leyton, he spends his days playing with tape echo and watching B-movies in his makeshift studio. Spanning over a decade, Tom’s career has covered a colourful patchwork of styles from dancehall to indie with the likes of rockabilly, dub, ghettotech and free jazz filling the gaps in between. Starting out as a percussionist playing on records for Bob Jones’ Black On Black label and Kingsize Records, Tom soon moved behind the mixing desk working with a wide variety of artists, but his deep love of reggae shining through in work with Trojan Records, Pama International, Roots Manuva, Deemas J, and most recently the mighty Ragga Twins. £5 on the door, 8pm til midnight, in Walthamstow's friendliest and unpretentious boozer. See you by the bassbin!
