The mini comic where his beauty sleep was ruined, he took his anger out on killer just to showcase using this form as some kind of mech to pilot. I think he's very aware of his surroundings like a sort of Toph, so even if he looks vulnerable, he isn't! Other than being a recharge station, if he wanted to (def has) he could torture someone in there since it's like an inky abyss with a concentrated amount of negativity and malice. So much so that it can affect those he brings in... other than suffocating/drowning/burning them alive
I think you can apply ballmare to literally any toonforce ball animation and yes he is farming ink's negative emotions, pain, and anguish by keeping him there with him LMAOOOOO
