Tor scoffed. "You're never gonna get into Valhalla like that, man," he grumbled, glancing over to the new guitarist. He already seemed like he'd just be another disappointment.
"It's not ridiculous to care about what's happening in the world around you, y'know," Bob said, raising an eyebrow.
"Yeah? Why don't you go plant a tree or somethin' about it then. Fuckin' hippie."
The room was tense. Bob and Tor seemed to stare each other down. Odin nearly held his breath.
After a moment that felt too long, Bob cracked a grin, then broke into laughter. Tor lit up, threw his head back, and joined him in amusement. It wasn't long before Tor had the good stuff out and they were drinking together.
Odin's shoulders visibly eased. He'd been right - this would work. He'd felt good about Bob. That had been happening more and more lately - his feelings panning out. They were on the right track.
