If you’re in the UK or Europe and are interested in meeting up with likeminded fandom people in a small and relaxed environment then this might be for you.
Every year we organise a weekend of activities for fandom Writers, Artists, Vidders, Betas and Readers. Everyone has a role in fandom – this is your chance to mix with people who write, create, or simply appreciate the work of those who do.
Creative fans from any fandom are very welcome to join us. So far, we have members who list Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Merlin, Sherlock, Marvel, Lucifer, Travellers, Check Please and Ice Hockey among their interests.
This year’s even will take place 7th-9th September in Coventry, UK. Tickets cost £42 for the weekend and we have negotiated a good rate for accommodation with the hotel where the event is being held (Ramada).
If you are interested in signing up you can do so on Livejournal here, Dreamwidth here or via our website here.

So, at the weekend I attended writerconuk. For those who don't know what it is it's a small fan-run convention that takes place every year in the UK. It's really more of a large fandom meetup, the only difference being the attendees run some panels and workshops on the Saturday.
I was particularly exited this year because I'd convinced enchantersnight and soshhy to come. I then felt the pressure to ensure that they enjoyed themselves but as far as I can tell there's no worries on that front. Both said they'd come back next year if the timing suits :D
For those of you who were around last year you may or may not remember the Great Cow Debacle of 2013. Basically when I was on the train to Coventry the train in front of me hit a cow causing us to be stuck in the middle of nowhere for about 3 hours. Considering it wasn't anyone's fault the train company were really good and refunded my ticket as well as giving me a voucher for a free journey anywhere on their route.
But, thankfully, there were no cow related incidents this year. Only problem I had was between York and Birmingham I was sat next to a larger gentleman who kept falling asleep and half crushing me in my seat. It wasn't too bad though. I got several fics read which was good.
I arrived to a rather crowded bar but managed to get a glass of wine in and have a chat to enchantersnight and soshhy before I disappeared to help kazzycee set up the projector in the room.
First night was fun! We made little flying dinosaurs that we all threw at each other. I gave mine a Black Widow design because.
Then it was time for the quiz which led to the realisation that I watch WAY too much TV. The only fandoms I couldn't answer questions on were Stargate and Doctor Who. Our final score was 90/95 *blush*
After that we retreated to the breakout area (or executive lounge as it's now called) for cocktails and chats. bogwitch and I bonded over the ridiculous Covet Fashion game which I am currently addicted to. gillo and soshhy were horrified that I'd never read any Diana Wynne-Jones so I now have a few books on my Amazon Wishlist.
Then, because none of us are as young as we used to be, we all headed to bed for a reasonably early night. Gone are the days where kitty_poker1 and I used to stay up until 3am talking about J2 fic :-p
