Do you know that feeling when you start writing a scene, get completely carried away, and suddenly your characters are deep in enemy territory conducting experiments on the locals? Yeah… me neither. 🙄
Half of writing is learning to live with making something that not everyone is going to like. And that "everyone" will end up including your friends and family. And guess what? That still doesn't mean your work is bad.
You probably didn't know this ( don't worry I didn't too until recently ), but your health becomes a part of your job when you decide to be a writer.
Yeah. You can't rot in your bed with those documents. You kinda have to be healthy. A good brain remains in a good body.
It's an advice I heard from a few authors. The latest is R.F. Kuang, who runs a few miles every morning because it helps her writing.
Your body fuels your brain. Please stay healthy and intact.
okay, ima be honest writing is great up until the actual putting words down part. like the Spotify playlist and the Pinterest board and the constant day dreaming is so fun you know

Inside my head, currently:
*is suddenly overtaken by the censor in my head and made to feel embarrassed because the fic I want to write is self-indulgent and angsty*
Insecure me: Oh God we shouldn't write that, people will KNOW we just want to be cared for and that would be vulnerable and BAD
30-something voice in my head: You're an oldest daughter with several hella isolating chronic illnesses that have directly resulted in medical trauma that you have to handle largely by yourself in addition to the actual illnesses. Anybody paying attention doesn't need the fic to tell them that; write what you want if it makes you happy.
Tumblr barbarian voice: *hands you a battleaxe* KILL THE CENSOR IN YOUR HEAD
I just woke up from the most primal, fear-inducing nightmare of my life and immediately thought:
“WRITE THAT DOWN. WRITE THAT DOWN.”
because my character is gonna suffer exactly like this and I need the source material while it’s fresh
Why we write.
Because something happened, and silence makes it louder.
Because if you don’t put it down, it sits in you wrong.
Not to be clever.
So it doesn’t tear through the quiet you built around it.
