I sware I'm going to catch up. I'm on the fourth prompt of @writeblrfantasy's 12 Days of Writer's Self-Love. This time, we are fast-forwarding back to when Captain Fisher was a sailor. I have also now decided to introduce my favorite character of mine ever. The prompt this time is Blood.
She walked up to the front desk in the inn with a large sack draped over her shoulder. The tired inn manager looked at her with a grumpy expression. The manager was a grumpy kenku with baggy eyes and black feathers that slowly turned grey. Queen put the bag down and grabbed a handful of gold coins.
âCould I rent a room for two nights?â They sighed as if their entire day was another monotonous waste of their time. She placed the gold on the desk and pushed it toward them. The manager passively took the money and put it in a desk drawer. While they were looking through their list of available rooms, Queen looked about the lobby. A few huddled groups were chatting happily about their pleasant mornings. Most of them were elves or kenku. The manager grabbed a set of keys from the wall behind them and dropped it on the desk. âDown the hallway to the left, last door.â
âThank you,â she smiled. They scoffed at her and waved her off.
âYeah, whatever,â they responded unhappily, fluffing up their feathers as they rested their head on their crossed arms. Queen sighed in disappointment and stepped away from the front desk. If it werenât for the nasty storms out at sea, she would have been already out sailing. Suddenly, the door slammed open, and as Queen turned around to look, she saw a severely wounded human bleeding in the arms of a young Kenku.
âThis human needs help!â they pleaded. The human wore strange, camouflaged clothing and was covered with multiple incisions and bruises from head to toe, bleeding immensely. Energy and shock flooded the managerâs face. Everyoneâs attention had turned to the human.
âWe need to get them to a chair!â the manager shouted as they stood up from behind the desk. Two elves set up one of the reclining chairs in the lobby. They quickly placed the human down. A necklace with a silver piece of metal hung from their neck. When Queen took a closer look, in the metal were engraved words. It took her a moment before realizing it was a tag.

âYou!â the manager scolded Queen. She jumped unexpectedly and looked at them. âCan you fly to the medic?â
âI canât fly,â Queen responded.
âYouâre aarakocran, and you canât fly?!â they gestured violently.
âHalf aarakocran,â she corrected.Â
âCan any of you use a healing spell?!â an albino kenku blurted out.
âWe need bandages!â the young kenku stated. Queen quickly went to her bag and grabbed about five bandage rolls before coming back over. A tall elf had already started healing a large cut on the humanâs right forearm as the others snatched some of Queenâs bandages.
âDo any of you have a horse?!â the manager called out.
âWhat do you need?â the albino kenku responded.
âI need you to ride your horse to the medic,â they ordered. âRUN!!â
âOkay! Okay,â they stumbled as they turned to the door. The human started gasping for air, coughing out blood.
âTheyâre waking up!â
âSHUSH!!â They slowly opened up their eyes, revealing their mystical golden brown eyes. They all were awkwardly glaring her down. The poor human stiffened up, her eyes darting around between faces. âAre you alright?â
âUh,â she shrunk. âWhere am I?â
âYouâre in the inn,â Queen responded.
âI want names,â the manager cracked their knuckles.
âWoah, settle down!â an elf interrupted. The human was starting to look concerned. âWe donât need to be starting fights yet. Can you tell us what happened?â
âWell,â she paused for a moment. âIâm not sure how to explain it.â
âDonât worry,â the young kenku spoke calmly. âWe sent someone to get the medic.â
âWho are you people?â she asked.
âMost of us are locals, but some are traders from other kingdoms,â the manager sighed.
âKingdom?? What kingdom is this?â she sat up, wincing in pain.
âWoah, lay back,â Queen insisted. âYouâre still bleeding.â
âUgh,â she groaned, leaning back, âfine.â
âYouâre in the Aaraborne kingdom on Tora island. Did you not know that when you came here?â the manager tilted their head.
âItâs a long story, and Iâd prefer not to talk about it,â they answered nervously.
âWhat kingdom did you even come from?â the young kenku asked, tilting his head to the side. âYou have some pretty strange clothes, from what I see.â
âGUYS, YOUâLL NOT BELIEVE THIS!!!â a human burst into the room. âA DRAGONBORNE WITH DUAL SWORDS IS COMING THIS WAY!!!â
âOh great,â the wounded human groaned. âThey found me!â
