It’s not that people can’t love you if you don’t love yourself. It’s that you won’t feel it because it’ll always seem like you don’t deserve it.

And when I said "I'm afraid that I'll ruin you," I meant "I'm afraid you'll ruin me, And I am too weak to stop you."

I'm going to fall in love With the way I burn my tongue Every time I have a cup of coffee. I'm going to comfort myself When I get lonely at four AM. I'm going to look at my collection of glass bottles And think "An interesting person must have gathered these." I am going to drive my mother to work, I am going to speak to my father about my day, And I am going to sit on swings by myself. I will let myself feel, I will be sensitive and emotional and irrational, And all of the things I could never be with you. And every time I talk too much Or laugh too loud at a joke that wasn't that funny, I'm going to fall in love with myself again.

It'll be the strangest thing, Because I've written everything I've ever felt for you for the past year. I'm starting over. I'm writing about someone else, I'm writing for someone else. No, not them. It's time for me to write about me.

You said, "I won't hold you back anymore," And didn't even notice The skid marks I left On your wrists When you tried to be better.

The person you’ve become is amazing but I guess that’s because you’ve always been your best when I wasn’t around.

I don't think I'll ever finish anything else I wrote about you. I started another story in the middle of your ending and I can't bring myself to stop writing my new beginning.
