Ok Camp Savage is screaming along at a chapter a week (rates I haven't hit since I was living alone at the height of the pandemic!!!) but I think half of it is that I want to get back to the Orion prequel so so bad. Like I respect women too much to make them truly pathetic (a flaw I will rectify) but boy am I going to take that man and hold his head underwater from the age of 16 to 36. He deserves it 💚
"I'm going to the lake this weekend" I announce. I lock myself in my room with a novelty bigfoot scented candle and with perfect clarity I picture the lake in its entirety down to the minnows and weeds and sunken branches. I emerge slightly sunburnt and smelling of algae.
Sickened to report that having an outline lets you write faster and not stop to think about what the next scene is. I hate outlining with all my soul but it does make the writing better. Gross, bad, 10/10 I'm gonna finish this book by summer's end.
Broke: Bluesleeves (125,000 words) is a fantasy novel...
Woke: Bluesleeves (116,000 words) is a fantasy novel...
Bespoke: The Camp Savage Survival Guide (100,000 words) is a horror novel...

Remembering the fateful moment in 2021 I decided to make Orion sneaky and clever instead of a full figurehead himbo and I'm like WOW that was a good call.
The biggest argument my editor and I had about Untimely Undeath was the fact that there's a guy who uses a harpoon gun instead of a regular rifle to assassinate people. I was forced to justify this choice because apparently "it would be so cool though" is not a good reason. Ultimately I justify it by saying his cover is that he's a whaler, though I think an eagle-eyed reader could probably assume that without me needing to spell it out. It is good to have the elements of your story make sense in-universe.
Anyway Persis Elegiers has a knife made out of a harpoon for NO GODDAMN REASON AT ALL NOW AND NO I WILL NOT BE ELABORATING.
I love writing! Researching weird stuff and setting up situations!! Caffeinated and vibing!! This is my thing!!!
