We spend our days toiling away our sweat and blood, Praying for a Prince Charming to sweep us off our feet. But until that fateful day arrives, we continue to sweep and clean another monster’s teeth. We have a few loyal friends to begin with, But when those numbers begin to crumble, too, we begin to lose our faith. Until we’re only left with two. And upon much thought, you realize you’d always knew, That it would always zero down to these two, these two would always stick by you. Together you’d always be happy, to each other you’d promised to stay forever true. You dreamed of wearing that beautiful gown and looking so pretty that people would think all the stars from the heavens above fell down all at once. You dreamed of dancing with His Highness, without revealing your true identity. Then running away, accidentally leaving behind a show, for you must be at a meeting scheduled for midnight. He chases after you, but his attempt proves futile. And he realizes he has fallen, just as you have, too. Finally, after numerous torturous weeks, that fateful day arrives. Prince Charming has been looking all over for you. He wishes to find her, the girl whose delicate feet fit perfectly in that silver shoe. Isn’t this what we all wish for? Isn’t this all we’ve ever dreamed of? A rich man, with the perfect body and killer looks. Your Prince Charming, right our of the pages of your favourite books. The man with the world beneath his feet, Now longingly sits beneath yours. Begging for an answer, begging you to say yes. Isn’t this what you’ve wanted? The Perfect Man, on his knees, Ready to give you the world if only you’d hold his hand and let him be your one and only. And instead of a rock whose worth can be measured in coins, He gifts you the most priceless gift of all - Shoes. Unlike the rock that may weigh you down, and deem you marked as “His Property”, He chose to propose you with something that would set you apart from this wretched world, That would keep your feet above the ground, like the angel you are and the kind of upliftment you deserve. He’d let you stand tall and love you for the fierce and independent woman that you are. It’s all we’ve ever wished for, it’s all we’ve always dreamt of. This is what we want, this is want we deserve. Not an old fairytale, where the women don’t have a say. Like an honest to God love story, struck by a touch of reality. This is how I want it to be. And I shall call it My Cinderella Story.
