it’s rare that he feels fear like this. when the failure of his eyes comes and makes him feel trapped, afraid. jack growls softly at the person he can’t see, pressing against his leg in response to his anxiety. he can only tell it’s a person --- assume it’s a person, from the footsteps. bears and wolves don’t walk on two feet.

he jumps when blessing hisses at the stranger, also sensing his anxiety. her tail’s wrapped around his neck, claws sinking into his shoulder.
when his arm’s touched, he nearly jumps out of his skin. gasping, he jerks back, hand flying to hang on to blessing, heart pounding. he’s doing his best to give them the benefit of the doubt, and keeps his arm up and available.
