The amount of poems I write during my hard times is an ever growing list
What Baby Bird Didnāt Expect
Run Baby Bird run
Take that leap of faith
Thereās no time to waste
Why havenāt you begun?
Baby Bird flew for the first time
With clipped wings she climbed
Landing in a higher branch wasnāt enough
She had to breach the treetops
Run Baby Bird run
Take that leap of faith
Thereās no time to waste
Why havenāt you begun?
Baby Bird readied for a takeoff
She wasnāt watching for danger
The Hawk swooped in
Swiping her off that branch
Baby Bird is falling
She doesnāt know what to do
So she flaps her clipped wings
But they bring her nowhere
Baby Bird lands in a pile of feathers
Sheās right back where she started
At her home nest still dull and brown
She looks up at the blue sky
Run Baby Bird run
Take that leap of faith
Thereās no time to waste
Why havenāt you begun?
The sky above turns tumultuous
A new Hawk circles with friends
Winds toss branches to the floor
Baby Bird seeks light through the despair
Baby Bird is lost.
Even if she tried to fly
The winds would tear her apart
But itās just excuses
because all she needs to do is,
Run Baby Bird run
Take that leap of faith
Thereās no time to waste
Why havenāt you begun?
Baby Bird prepares for take off
But what Baby Bird didnāt expect
Was for her nest to sink
A pit of quicksand slowly claiming her
Baby Bird reaches with torn wings
To the tempest above her so high
The ground swallows her home
It claims her tail and feet
Run Baby Bird run
Take that leap of faith
Thereās no time to waste
Why havenāt you begun?
Because Baby Bird is paralyzed by fear
If she stays much longer
The sand may kill her
But how can she leap with clipped wings?
Run Baby Bird run
Take that leap of faith
Thereās no time to waste
Why havenāt you begun?
Run Baby Bird run
Take that leap of faith
There is time to waste
Youāll begin when you brave the fear
