I'm always a sucker for outsider POV, and I'm a known Boytoy Molloy enjoyer, but this line from to the shame of queer theorists everywhere by @starlitsequins really takes the cake for hilarity, and how other vampires - especially young fledglings - view Daniel. I laughed out loud, but it's also an excellent snapshot of how much he's bucking trends. We often talk about the potential fetishisation of age, and how Armand Want's That Old Man (possibly because we also WTOM ;)), but that wouldn't be the prevailing attitude. More "traditional", post-Twilight post-COVID "return of heroin chic" era young fledglings would see their eternal youth as a gift, and not only fail to understand the positives of eternal life in an older body, but would see physical age as a moral failing, and out of line with what they consider to be the aesthetic culture of vampirism and the vampire community. This was supposed to be a simple fic rec + funny line, but I guess I had to get philosophical with it. As is my way.
