Day 110: In the port of Limassol, Cyprus. After a busy day transiting the Suez Canal, we arrived in the busy port of Limassol. Suddenly it felt like I arrived home, must be the climate. . Spent the day casually wondering around the city, its stunning seafront promenade, the historical city center located around its medieval castle, the Old Port and of course the lovely shops. ____________________________________ Tags: #cyprus #limassol #mediterranean #touristdestination #seafront #promenade #limassolcyprus #travelblogger #aroundtheworld #worldvoyage #cunard #cunardline (at Limassol, Cyprus)
Day 98: in the Port of Muscat, Oman. Muscat is the capital and largest city in the Sultanate of Oman, an independent state in the southeast corner of the Arabian Peninsula. The city, located on the Arabian Sea, has an economy which is dominated by trade, petroleum and porting. . On the day we visited Nizwa Fort, Oman’s most visited national monument. The rocky Western Al Hajar mountains dominated the views for most of our journey. The fort, built in the 1650s was the administrative seat of authority for the presiding Imams and Walis in time of peace and conflict. The fort is a powerful reminder of the town’s significance through turbulent periods in Oman’s long history. . We also visited one of the world’s largest mosques, the beautiful Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque. It holds more than 15,000 worshippers and was complete in 2001 after taking 9 years to built. The huge Persian carpet inside the Mosque, once holding the record of biggest in the world, was made as a single piece and waved from the inside by 600 women. ________________________________________ Tags: #oman #muscat #oldmuscat #fort #aljalali #aljalalifort #mosque #grandmosque #sultanqaboosgrandmosque #travel #cunard #cunardline #aroundtheworld #worldcruise #worldvoyage #voyage #viaje (at Golden Tulip Nizwa Hotel)
Day 90: anchored in the Port of Phuket, Thailand. Phuket is approximately the size of Singapore and it’s Thailand’s largest island situated off the west coat of Thailand in the Andaman Sea. It is connected to the mainland by a bridge. On the day I went through this bridge to visit one of Thailand’s main attractions, Khao Phing Kan, best known as James Bond Island. . James Bond Island in Phang Nga Bay, became famous in the 1970’s after it was featured in the popular James Bond movie “The Man With The Golden Gun”. After the movie became a blockbuster, tourists in Thailand began to show interest in visiting the islands. . Famous Bond Director Guy Hamilton headed to Southern Thailand in 1974. The external shots of Scaramanga’s Island lair were filmed in Phang Nga Bay and the islands of Ko Khao Ping Kan and Ko Tapu, aka James Bond Island. At the time the area was not yet a famous tourist attraction and there were many facilities available for the cast and crew of the movie with everything including food and water having to be flown in. . However, what many people don’t know is that the actual James Bond Island is relatively very small compared to the other islands that surround it. It’s the actual shape of it and the good camera angle what makes it look so impressive in the screen. There are other more impressive sights around the area, like the mangrove swamps, cave formations or the Muslim floating village of Kraby Town.

Day 87: in the Port of Port Kelang. After departing Singapore, Queen Mary 2 followed a North Westerly course overnight as she steamed towards Port Kelang in Malaysia, the gateway to Kuala Lumpur.
Kuala Lumpur is the capital and largest city of Malaysia. The Golden triangle, the commercial hub of the city, contains the Petronas Twin Towers (tallest building in the world from 1998 to 2004), symbol of the city and most distinctive building from Malaysia an d most famous worldwide.
Day 86: back in the Port of Singapore. Photo of the stunning Supertree Grove at the gardens by the bay. #supertreegrove
Day 83: in the Port of Nha Trang, Vietnam. . Until the 19th Century, Nha Trang was a deserted area rich in wildlife such as tigers. After just two decades, In the early 20th Century, Nha Trang underwent a rapid change. . Modern Nha Trang is a city of two parts. One takes the form of a smaller Danang - a bustling Vietnamese city humming with commerce but blessed with access to a beautiful beach. The other is a peaceful Western resort town encompassing several blocks of hotels, tourist shops, bars and international restaurants. . On the day I was able to enjoy more of that bustling Vietnam. I have to say it was the first time for me in this side of the World, and it was a total experience to visit the central market of Nha Trang, Dam Market. Food of all kinds and shapes, that I never tasted; some that I’ll probably never taste. Animals of all types: dried, fried, some even alive like the rats that prowled around the market, very healthy rats I have to say. Overall it was nice to see how other people live in other parts of the world, being submerged in their culture, rather than just spending the day on a resort.
