    (        𝐑𝐎𝐀𝐃 𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐏 𝐒𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐒.        @worldendured​   ------ (     violet !     )  sent :  “Do I look like I know how to fix a tire?”      )                 𝘁𝗵𝗲  𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴  𝘄𝗮𝘀  𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗺 ,  𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘆.      small  scatterings  of  colorful undergrowth  shown  through  that  revealed  bright  in  the  afternoon  sunlight  that  never  seemed  to  dwindle  no  matter  how  late  it  got.     winter  was  approaching.   which  meant  that  walkers  would  begin  to  slow  down with  their  limbs  exposed  to  the  elements.  there  was  usually  a time  schedule with  these  runs  into  the  wilderness  like  this,    but  she  liked  spending  time  with  violet.  one-on-one.  there  was  a  persistent  comfort  that  blanketed  their  landscape  connection  &  chemistry  ,  if  clem  had  to  call  it  something.

                   ❛   you know your way around a meat-cleaver . why not cars?  if I had to guess, though, motorcycles seem like your type.   ❜   clem  drawls  humorously,   glancing  over  at  the  blonde  with a  lopsided  grin .  she  liked  these  little  moments  between  them.       she  was  more  used  to  talking  to  people  than  aj  was,   but  she  wasn’t  so  used  to  bantering .      not  anymore ,    really.     she  wasnt  extremely  talkative  in  the  first  few  days  of  the  outbreak  with  lee.   but  the  last  few  years  shucked  away  her  learnt  ability  of  adolescent  charisma.     vanished  with  dirtied  hands  of  blood  &  anguish.  betrayal  was  a  virus  that  suilled  the  body.      javi  made  re-acquainting  with  it  easy  all  those  years  ago.  poor guy , he was somewhat of a walking disaster ------ fondly as she remembered him.    she   was a  shell  of  her  former  self ,   again.                 separating  with  kenny  for  the  last  time  ,   &  being  the  only  survivor  with  aj  at  wellington,  conversing  & meeting  new  people  was  the  last  thing  she  wanted  to  do.   it  didn’t  help  that  the  new  frontier  had  taken  aj  away  from  her .    ------- she  was  more  𝐖𝐎𝐋𝐅 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐍 𝐆𝐈𝐑𝐋  .   being  with  violet ------  graced  with  her  demure  smiles  that  reached  those  jade  pools  of  beauty  &  mystery.   sarcastic  rebuttals  to  her  questions  made  her  feel  more  human , alive.  like  a  normal  teenager.                    knees  bent  & knelt  down  to  scoop  up  a  bottle  of  glass.   being  active  was  a  good  respite  from  dwelling  too  long  on  the  opposite  girl.  covered  in  a  dried  carapace  of  dirt  that  concealed  the  brand  name ,     clem  brushed  her  palms  over  it  to  brush  away  the  debris ,   seeing  that  it  was  still  half-full .  jack  ryan .   her  nose  scrunches  in  visible  distaste.  has violet ever had beer , before?  -------  ask her , stop being shy already.     her  mind  lapses  into  resourcefulness  . not  everything  in  the  woods  was  useless.  in  the  case  of  emergencies?   the  environment  was  more  your  friend  than  foe.  a branch could  save  your  life.   palms  resist  the  urge  to  arbitrarily  hold  her  stitched  forearm  .      ❛  nothin’ over here. . .hey , uhm , is it your shift tonight?   ❜

✘ ━ HE GLANCES between the two of them as they sit on the steps outside the ERICSON’S admin building, he begins listing off their SIMILARITIES in his head as he does. other than holding themselves in an alike MANNER, both seeming quiet and STANDOFFISH along with them both being young adults in the NEW WORLD there was one STRIKING similarity. the fact they both had eye patches. carl figured that - obviously - neither of them had started like this, that she wasn’t like that before the world had STOPPED being the world - he imagined if that was the case she’d PROBABLY have glasses or a fake eye or something.  ❝ how’d you lose yours? ❞ the words are OUT of his mouth before he can even register that he is saying them and he feels his one good eye widen a little in shock.  ❝ i got SHOT - ❞ he starts to explain; hoping explaining what happened to HIS would make up for the awkward question.  ❝ he was aiming for MY DAD but hit ME instead. ❞  // @worldendured 

      she should be looking over , & see  brody counting this week’s  rations.  instead ,  all  she  can  see , all  they  can  both  see , is  the  wooden  cross  dug  inside  a  gravesite.  decorated  with  tenn’s  KIND drawings  of  the  beach.            STRAINED SCREECHES ------ WAS THAT A BANSHEE?  some nights , she can still feel her hand. curled around her cold throat --------- oh god , what about aj?  I can’t die down here. he needs me ! A FEW MORE HITS. FORGIVE ME , BRODY. I’M SO S-MARLON YOU BAS-           its  only  violet’s  voice ,  the  soft  sound  of  her  that  brings  clementine  to  the  PRESENT with  a  couple  of  blinks ,  the  heaviness  still  pre-existing  in  her  throat  that  makes  her  refusal  to  remark  that  comment  all  the  more  plausible.  she  can  see  it  in  violet’s  eyes ,  how  much  that  night  still  haunts  her  too.  she  can’t  go  back  there ,  she  wants  to  be  here.  in  the  now .  with  violet.  where  she  can  feel  the  wind  against  her  skin , & they  can  sit  in  COMFORTABLE silence ----- if  need  be.           booted  feet  move.  this  time ,  standing  beside  the  blonde  as  she  listens carefully  to  each  syllable  released  from  her  pouty-shaped  lips  in  rhythmic  tandem. even  as  she  told  about  the  last  time  she  visited  the  beach  being  met with  terrible  sunburn  that  clem  couldn’t  help  but  wince  some  with  a  little  upturn  of  her  lips.  waving  her  hand  after  a few  minutes  to  subside  it ,   she  meets  her  glance  with  a  sheepish  grin  that  emerged  in  the  wake.      ❛  sorry , sorry. I’m not laughing at you, I promise. I’m just really sorry you got a bad burn the last time , I can imagine those things hurting after a bit. hey , if you makes you feel any better ? the beaches probably smell really AWFUL right about now with all those walkers toppling over in the sand.  ❜     she points out , an eyebrow arching as she roams her gold irises along violet’s features.      ❛   before all this , though , what was your favorite thing to do at the beach?    ❜

AMONG US STARTERS.

     CERTAINLY she’s seen many clouds drift by from her spot atop of the wall, what should be the world’s slowest back and forth run track but it would seem she only made it half-way.   granted, she’s taken more of a WATCH duty instead of patrol.   stepping forward and craning his neck to peer up at the blonde, he knew better than to pry when it came to violet, being private as well as prickly... especially with him.    but he won’t say he didn’t care about her, no matter how much they clashed.

𝐇𝐔𝐑𝐓 / 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐓   ♡   𝐒𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐒.

     IT WAS ONE OF THOSE AUTUMN DAYS.   The ground had the texture of a damn mattress from the amount of RAINFALL they had the past week, a forest floor turning into a damn swamp from the river overflowing or muddy puddles forming a whole new ecosystem of their own in massive pools that it wouldn’t surprise him if he saw fish in there, been washed out from river and into another because of weather.   getting to their fishing hut was a game of hopscotch, jumping from one dryish island to another, all the while making sure not to slip in the mud.  LOUIS’S VOICE grabs his attention over his shoulder, once he got himself steady to find louis appears to be rather stuck, not between a rock and a hard place but rather, mud and a very wet place.    he can’t help but chuckle, like a cat about to go for a bath. it was the face louis was pulling that really tickled him.   how could you ask me to come fishing today, of all days after it looked like noah’s ark passed through?  being best friends granted incredible mindreading abilitys.          ❝ –   if this is a trick just to make me fall, you better know you’re coming with me.  ❞   despite his suspician, he does reach out offering his best friend a hand, a lifering to pull him over to the safety of his island.

“What happened? Are you okay?”

SHE’D TRIED TO KEEP TO HERSELF FOR THE MAJORITY OF the evening, but Clementine knew that the twist of discomfort in her eyebrows wouldn’t remain unnoticed for long. It had started as it always did, with a gentle tingling in the middle of her calf, almost as if it were asleep. She tried to ignore it, glancing down at the source of the discomfort; and upon watching the stump below her knee hang idly, knew exactly what was going on. It usually stopped if she ignored it, or when she fiddled with her bandages enough to trick her brain into remembering what had happened. 

But it didn’t, and the little flurry of pinpricks soon grew stronger, eventually causing the teenager to grip at the edge of the picnic table. Clementine knew that she wasn’t hurt - she’d read about phantom limb pain in one of the medical history books on one of Ruby’s favorite shelf - but that didn’t stop the searing feeling from overtaking her entire foot. Her breathing quickened, squinting her eyes shut to try and block it out. There was nothing to do but let it pass.

She didn’t even notice Violet sitting next to her, whipping her head up to look at the other girl as soon as she’d started talking.   ❝ Nothing. I’m fine, ❞   she started, voice more tense than she’d meant it to be. Instantly, her expression softened, shaking her head with closed eyes. Violet didn’t do anything, it wasn’t her fault.   ❝ It’s just my leg, it’s doing that thing again. It’s normally not this bad. ❞
