TODAY i was working box office, and two middle aged men walk up and ask for tickets to the "space one" so i said "alien, or guardians?" and they initially said alien but then they were like "well, what do YOU recommend"
if you've been around me for more than 10 minutes in the proximity of a movie, you will realize this is my Moment
so i give an honest and calculated opinion on alien covenant vs guardians of the galaxy 2. suddenly both the men get huge smiles on their faces. they decide on guardians instead.
one asks "are you a film-maker?" to which i reply "no, but I write stories a lot and i like short stories like what you see in movies, so i'm invested in story arcs and structure. i also am an artist, an illustrator, so i look at the visual aspects a lot too."
the other one says "you are the coolest person working at a movie theatre i've ever met. i wish you good luck in your projects."
the first one leans forward and half-whispers while pointing to his friend "he's an artist", and they walk to get concessions. i pop in one last time and reiterate that i love to hate things (alien covenant was awful), but i prefer to like things, y'know? they laughed heartily.
it was a good day for a morning that started out weird and annoying.
