Life is a Marathon - Not a Sprint Race
Successful people are far sighted and not rely on short-term outcomes. They are the marathon runners and not take life as sequences of sprints. We ignore the long-term impact of things when we focus on short-term outcomes. In general, the success of a person is judged based on his/her entire life and the cause s/he stood for and never is short segments of life.
We are inspired and influenced by the inventors and innovators. Stories of people who contributed the best irrespective of where they were born are more famous than of those who lived in the lap of luxury. Financial gains are never the end product of hustle, but are a very small part of a huge process of struggle to succeed.
Consider the Impact of Short-term steps on the end goal
We should map the impact of our short-term steps on our long-term goals. Short-term oriented steps may give us perks, but their taste will fade away and the reality of long-term goals will haunt. Long-term oriented people have the audacity to hustle their face-off every day because they are genuinely concerned about their dreams and goals.
The marathon is you vs. you game
The steps taken on short-term are the strokes of the masterpiece painting in the long-term. Success is winning the marathon and not to be the first to reach the next lamp-post. Everyone is on the field with you, but our goals and dreams are unique. Marathon of life is you vs. you game. It is indeed a good deal to spend your time to learn about yourself, challenge your limits, set your own targets and be in a good mental shape that you settle for nothing less than the best. The confidence built upon challenging yourself is legit and not predicated on the weakness of your competitor. When you fall, your self-confidence brings you back to the track, and helps you realize that, ‘if you are alive, you can hustle till the end of the game’.
Realization of the reality that only you can make till the end
Successful people have a firm belief in their intuition and loads of confidence in their actions. They take adversity on their face and untangle from what holds them back even if it leads to pain in the short-term. For example, take the case of Steve Jobs adherence with his vision when Steve Wozniak parted ways, the case of Muhammad Ali when people of his faith parted when he was on the down side of life or even the case of Mark Zuckerberg when almost all the members of the board were in favor of selling Facebook. It is the audacity to follow the intuition that differentiates us between dragging till death and living life to the fullest.
