DiMaggio's blows were the more destructive. His first fashioned three of the first four Yankee runs in the fifth. His second brought the Yankees within striking distance of the Browns in the seventh after they had hammered Bump Hadley to shelter and feasted generously on the offerings of Pat Malone. His third, struck in the ninth, brought the Yanks even with the enemy.
