So as the last commission and set shoot that I included as part of my wok experience period, I went to the Spring Arts and Heritage Centre in Havant to shoot an event called 'Words not Weapons'. The idea behind this event was to showcase the new and upcoming talent of a group of young rap artists (or mcs) whom of which, had themselves, or knew someone, that had been involved in crimes involving the use of a weapon.
For this event I was asked to get a couple of group shots which I will be able to see in a few weeks time in the local newspaper, as well as shoot all of the young artists whilst they performed to a local audience. Some of this audience included family, friends and even the main head Police officer for all of Hampshire.
I was asked to shoot this event for my old and good friend Jinx Prowse, the CEO of Music Fusion who I have worked with previously for DV Mission 48 Hour Film Challenge and when I myself organised a 9 month long Battle of the Bands when I used to run a promotions company called 'Bring On The Music'. Jinx has been a good friend since this time and I would not have had the heart ever to turn down an opportunity to work with him again.
I used my trusty Pentax K-r set once more on stage lighting, which I must add now, the lighting was extremely horrid to work with on this night but I feel it may have been down to how the smoke machine refracted the lighting that was used. I was however, able to get some good shots which I am currently sorting and editing right this moment ready to send through to Jinx within the hour ready for him to see tomorrow morning.Â
