Word of the Year: 2018. I still need to find my rock, but I really wanted to share. Before I started to my self-reflection, I was certain that my word would be DILIGENCE. There are a lot of things happening in my life where I feel the need that if I just try harder then everything shall work out. The longer I meditated on this worksheet, the less it felt appropriate to focus on working harder. It seems that the only thing I do is work and work and work, and it only buries me deeper in frustration. So then I thought maybe REST would be a good word. There is a definite difference between sleeping and resting. This lady likes to sleep. A lot. Sleep is a good way for me ostrich myself from the world and sweep under the rug any mess I don't want to cope with. Rest, on the other hand, would help me focus on taking it slow and relaxing, learning to not over do things. Then I thought how easy it would be for me to twist the concept if rest to fit my impulsive nature to just take a nap and sleep. Which would be counter productive to what I want to accomplish here. That's when it hit me. Yes, I need discipline and yes I need rest. Maybe these are the sub-words to my overlying concept. What would be a good word to encompass all that I'm trying to accomplish here. STILLNESS. "Be STILL and know that I AM." I have lost my focus in recent years. Even before we left California, my sense of direction was failing. Maybe all it took was my recent downward spiral for me to realize that my focus needed some realignment. If you know me at all, you know that I'm a go-getter. If I'm not actively working on something then I am out of place. I need to learn that it is perfectly alright for me to accept the STILLNESS. #wordoftheyear2018 #STILLNESS
