On weekends, he started to miss the little excited jump he’d get in his stomach when Matt would come talk to him. When Sunday evening rolled around, a bubble of anticipation for the upcoming work week would start to build. Whenever Wes would ask him why he was so excited, he quickly brush it off, and change the subject. He couldn’t ignore the pang of guilt he felt in his stomach, however. He’d just remind himself that there was nothing wrong with being attracted to someone- that’s all it was.

He liked hanging around Matt. It made him feel important. Not a day went by that Matt didn’t compliment him on something- his music playing abilities, his music writing abilities, or even how he looked. The attention felt quite nice- which surprised Nate. He usually preferred to stay under the radar, but something about Matt left him wanting more.

Matt had a special talent for finding excuses to get Nate alone. As the lead singer of the band, he didn’t have to put up too much of a fight to get his way. His favorite tactic was saying that he needed extra one on one practice to get the song just right. They’d go off in the yard alone, if it was a pretty day outside. Although, what was supposed to be ‘one on one practice’ quickly turned into Matt sizing him up as he played. He said he loved watching him, and loved watching how deftly his hands moved and knew exactly what to do.

Just the look in his eye was enough to make Nate blush.Eventually, they even started logging extra hours in the studio. He’d ask Nate to stay a little late and work with him. The proposition made him nervous, but he knew the deadline for the record was coming up, so he couldn’t really refuse. On those nights, he’d send Wes a quick text that he would be working late that night, and then put his phone on silent. The initial feelings of guilt dissipated into excitement as him and Matt started working together.

They actually did get a lot of work done on those nights. Which was shocking, considering how distracting Matt always was. He’d always sit so close to Nate, and find reasons to touch him- leaning over him, or letting his knee fall to the side against his. Nate found himself not wanting to pull away.

Being around Matt left him with a strange, electrical feeling. It was a feeling he hadn’t felt that often in his life. Truthfully, he didn’t have much experience with men at all, besides Wes.. He was his first everything. In the back of his head, he tried to ignore the little voice that wondered.. what else could be out there?
