wontlosethemagain Eren knew it was wrong to go to the surface. His mother had warned him many times of the dangers of humans. The way they would react if they ever saw him or his tail or fins...However this did not stop Eren's curiosity. The surface seemed like such an interesting place, an entire world unexplored.

So that day when he saw the shadow of the ship...his curiosity got the better of him as he swam to the surface. As he broke against the water, he stared up at the large vessel, shielding his eyes. It was gigantic. Eren had never seen anything like it. Swimming closer, he glanced around trying to get a better look.

He didn't see any humans...maybe they were all inside the large thing...He swam closer peaking into a few of the circular holes. Many of the rooms were empty, the ones he swam by didn't interest him much until...

He saw her. A human girl...though she looked...unhappy. She was alone in the room as far as Eren could tell. He wondered what she was doing alone in such a small place. He stared at her for awhile, hoping she wouldn't notice him...though he had made a loud noise when he had grabbed at the side of the window...

He sighs, raising his hand to slide his fingers through the black locks of hair, messing up the the carefully styled hairdo. Maybe this had been one of his worst ideas after all. Maybe he should have just went with the 'shoot first, ask questions later' approach - that one had proved to be quite effective before.

So why had he been stupid enough to decide and go against methods used and sure this time and taken a damn hostage with them back to the base? What devil had made Levi decide that it had been a good idea? Damn everything. It was too late to do anything about it, too late to re-do what has been done.

"Fuck me." Levi muttered before opening the door the room where the girl was being held in. Everything was messed up and vandalized, chairs turned and bedding thrown on the floor. The one who had done all this, the damn girl he had decided to take as a hostage, sat on the bed. Smirking.

It was the big day. Eren could barely sleep the day before, because he knew it was getting close. Finally, that was it. He’d meet his soul mate. He always wondered what kind of person they would be, what they would look like, would they be older or younger? Would they be someone he knew? He had to stop himself from thinking about it so much because he was getting really impatient.

Coincidentally, the clock of his adopted sister Mikasa also had the same numbers as his. He would always tell her that they’d meet their soul mates together when the time came, and it finally came. Did their respective soul mates also knew each other or were they both complete strangers?

Eren went to grab Mikasa once he was ready both physically and mentally. Well, not really. He was still trembling and nervous but if he was going to wait for himself to calm down he would probably miss it. He literally did grab Mikasa though, practically dragging her outside despite her slight resistance.

His palms were sweaty. There were so many people outside. Which one of them was it going to be? Or which two? He tried not to look too much at the people, because what if he was attracted to someone who ended up becoming Mikasa’s soul mate instead? That would be terrible. No one seemed to approach them so far, but then there was still time.

Any moment now. He had stopped wandering around and now stood in one place. The people would approach them if they had to, but oddly enough they were the only ones who seemed to be looking. Everyone else was acting pretty normally.

Eren squeezed Mikasa’s hand quite tightly. It was going to be now. No turning back. He bit his lips nervously, trying to pinpoint someone, anyone who could be the one. For a brief moment he feared that he wouldn’t end up having anyone.

Both of their clocks stopped at the same time. Eren waited expectantly. Waited and waited but nobody came. He was about to be utterly crushed, when something clicked inside of his head, at last.
